Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026 · Applies to this website and the d3frk GunMoney Urban Terror game server.

Short version: we collect as little as possible. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we use no third-party analytics or tracking. This page explains, honestly, the little we do collect and why.

01Who we are

“d3frk GunMoney” (the “Service”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is an independent, community-run, modded Urban Terror 4.3.4 game server and its companion website. We are the data controller for the limited personal data described below. You can reach us at any time via our contact form or our Discord server.

02What we collect & why

a) When you use the contact form

We store the name, email address, optional subject and message you type, so we can read and reply to your enquiry (for example a question, bug report or ban appeal). We also store, alongside the message, your IP address and browser user-agent string, purely to prevent spam and abuse (rate-limiting) and for security.
Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR): taking steps at your request and our legitimate interest in running a spam-free service.

b) Anonymous visitor count

The footer shows a running “unique visitors” number. To avoid counting the same browser twice, your browser generates a random identifier (stored on your own device as gm-visitor-id) and sends it to us only to increment an aggregate counter. This identifier is random, is not linked to your name, email or IP address, and tells us nothing about who you are. You can clear it at any time by clearing your site data.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a basic, privacy-preserving visitor count.

c) Server logs

Like virtually every website, our hosting provider's web server may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, date/time, requested URL and user-agent) for a limited period for security, abuse-prevention and troubleshooting.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in the security and reliability of the Service.

d) In-game data (if you connect and play)

If you connect to the game server, then — like any Quake-engine game server — it processes your in-game player name, your game client GUID, your IP address (technically required to send you the game traffic), your gameplay statistics, your in-game virtual “money”/SuperCoins and jackpot activity, and your public in-game chat. Some of this — your player name, stats, virtual balances, jackpot results and public chat — is displayed publicly on this website's live scoreboard, leaderboards and player profiles. Do not type anything into public chat or use a player name you would not want shown publicly.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating the game, its persistent-economy mod, and community leaderboards.

e) Staff accounts

Our administrators sign in through Discord (OAuth) with two-factor authentication. This processes only the staff member's own Discord identity and is not used for ordinary players or website visitors.

03What we don't do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to anyone.
  • We do not use advertising networks or serve ads.
  • We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics, pixels or cross-site trackers. The website loads no third-party scripts, fonts or CDNs.
  • We do not use your data to build advertising or marketing profiles.

04Cookies & local storage

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies, so there is no cookie-consent banner. We use only:

  • One strictly-necessary session cookie (PHPSESSID), set only on the contact page, to keep the anti-spam captcha and form-token working during your visit. It is deleted when your session ends.
  • Local storage on your own device: gm-theme (your chosen colour theme) and gm-visitor-id (the random visitor identifier described above). These stay in your browser; you can remove them by clearing site data.

05How long we keep it

  • Contact messages: kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards (for record-keeping and to recognise repeat/abusive contacts), then deleted. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.
  • Visitor identifier & count: the counter is aggregate; the random identifier persists on your device until you clear it.
  • Server logs: retained only for a short period, then rotated/deleted by the host.
  • In-game data: retained while you continue to play and as part of the persistent-economy save data; you can request removal of your profile data.

06Who we share with

We keep sharing to the minimum needed to run the Service:

  • Our hosting provider, which stores the server and its data on our behalf.
  • Discord, if you choose to contact us or join us there — your interaction is then also subject to Discord's own privacy policy, which we don't control.
  • Authorities, only where we're legally required to, or where it's necessary to protect the Service, our users or others (for example, responding to serious abuse or unlawful activity).

07Where your data is processed

Our servers are located in the European Union (Germany). If you access the Service from elsewhere, your data is processed there. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.

08Your rights

Depending on where you live (and in particular under UK GDPR / EU GDPR), you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; have it corrected or erased; restrict or object to our processing; receive a copy in a portable format; and withdraw consent where we relied on it. To exercise any of these, contact us via the contact form or Discord and we'll respond within the time the law requires. There is no charge for a reasonable request.

If you're in the UK and think we've mishandled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. In the EU you can complain to your local data-protection authority. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.

09Children

The Service is not directed at young children, and the game contains realistic firearm combat intended for a mature audience. You must be at least 13 years old (and where required in your country — for example 16 in parts of the EEA — old enough to consent, or have your parent/guardian's consent) to use the Service. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

10Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data we hold. However, no website or transmission over the internet is ever 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes may also be announced on our Discord. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.

12Contact
